Acute Medication

Acute medication is prescribed medicine received for temporary illness or conditions such as infections, relieving of symptoms etc.

Pharmacy Advised Therapy (P.A.T.)

Did you know that P.A.T. medication can be obtained directly from the Pharmacy on the advice from a Pharmacist for minor illnesses eg: cold medication. This benefit helps to avoid the inconvenience of waiting in a Doctor's consulting room for minor illnesses.

Chronic Medication

Chronic medication is prescribed, life sustaining medication taken continuously on an ongoing basis, for example medication taken for high blood pressure or diabetes.

Recently diagnosed with a chronic condition and require medication?

STEP 1 – Contact Mediscor’s ChroniLine for assistance on 0860 119 553.

Mediscor will be able to advise you whether you qualify for Prescribed Minimum Benefits (i.e. if no limits or co-payments are applicable to your medication and if appropriate, the treatment options you may discuss with your doctor to qualify for the Prescribed Minimum Benefits.)

STEP 2 – Take your repeat prescription to a pharmacy of your choice

Chronic Disease List (CDL)

A great way to stretch your chronic medication limit!

It has been legislated that with effect 1 January 2004 medical schemes must cover the treatment of 24 chronic conditions at cost with no limits and no co-payments. The use of medicine formularies, treatment protocols and the appointment of designated service providers are however encouraged to manage the cost of the treatment of these conditions.
